San Jose Diridon Station is named after Rod Diridon. Before the renaming in 1994, it was simply known as San Jose Cahill Street Depot. The station was built by the Southern Pacific Railroad in 1935. See also this Wikipedia article.

It currently serves Amtrak, Caltrain and ACE passenger trains and it is also a stop for VTA Light Rail and numerous VTA bus lines. The HP Pavillion - the arena where the San Jose Sharks play - is right next door.
